Candidate Portal

PRODUCT DESIGN

LHH is the world’s premier talent solutions provider. LHH is a part of the Adecco Group, a leading talent advisory and solutions company, headquartered in Zurich Switzerland.

The project was to create a candidate portal product concept for LHH. They wanted their employees to have a resume-building tool within the Workfolio Directory platform so users could build their online profiles in an efficient way.

I designed the UI for the candidate portal, jobs board, resume import tool, and resume templates.

The Problem

The client wanted a way for their employees to access everything in a web portal including member profiles, resumes, job postings, and more. They also wanted the option for users to import resumes easily into the candidate portal.

Many of the client’s members had resumes on Word documents or PDFs and they wanted a quick way to parse the information and upload it to a resume builder application. The users wanted to still be able to edit the resumes within the product.

Research

I researched existing resume builders such as My Perfect Resume, Resume.io, and Zety to see what features worked best. I brainstormed the pros and cons and decided on what items should be featured in the candidate portal’s resume builder.

Site Map

I created a site map that shows the user journey within the Candidate portal app. This is the flow the user sees while using the product and includes all the functionality such as resume templates and job listings.

Wireframing

The next step was to create wireframes to get a better sense of the user interface design for each page. I designed these detailed renderings to allow the client to see what the candidate portal could potentially look like. Once I received their feedback, I worked on high-fidelity mockups.

The Solution

After getting a better understanding of what was needed for the product to be successful, I worked on the UI design for the candidate portal. This featured a way for users to create their profiles, review the resumes they built, and the ability to submit applications to job postings.

The Resume Builder

The Workfolio dev team built a resume parsing tool that scans resumes in Word document or PDF format. The resumes can then be imported into the resume builder application. Users can also import their resumes from LinkedIn. It’s quick and easy and allows users to go in and make edits if necessary.

I designed a resume builder tool where users can choose between pre-designed templates and make edits to the resume itself. The product also has helpful tips to guide the user while they create their resumes. Coaches and recruiters can view resumes and add comments on them for feedback.
